Transcript:

Hi everyone, I’m Brett and you’re listening to the GoMelbourne podcast. This podcast helps anyone travelling to Melbourne learn a little bit more about the city from a local’s perspective. In today’s podcast I’m going to talk about eating out in Melbourne.

Now, there’s endless restaurants to choose from in Melbourne and it’s a matter of personal opinion what you might think makes a restaurant great, but here are the GoMelbourne top 5 restaurant tips for eating out in Melbourne.

The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant

For tourists, my first recommendation would be The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. This mobile restaurant is literally one of Melbourne’s iconic tram cars, so not only do you get a great meal served by fantastic staff that know all about the city and it’s food, but you also get a sightseeing tour at the same time!

Dinner By Heston Blumenthal

For fine dining, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Crown Towers is a luxury experience not to be missed. Here they serve Ancient British style food combined with modern Australian produce. With main meals starting at $50 this is definitely not a cheap night out, but if you are looking to treat yourself to something special then Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is a great option.

The Hardware Société

Now we love eating brunch in Melbourne, and a great place for that mid-morning meal is The Hardware Société on Hardware Street in Melbourne. While their French Toast and sweeter options are to die for, what keeps people coming back are their eggs. This small cafe is always filled with people trying to get their morning food fix.

400 Gradi

For pizza lovers, head down Lygon Street, which is the “Little Italy” of Melbourne. For a great pizza you can’t go past 400 Gradi. The owner Johnny Di Francesco has been making pizzas since he was 12 years old, and in 2014 he won “Best Margherita” at the “World Pizza Championships” in Italy.

Brunetti

If it’s desserts your after, then head to Brunetti. You’ll also find that on Lygon Street, as well 2 locations in central Melbourne. While it is a cafe, Brunetti is famous in Melbourne for their desserts. It’s the perfect place for a coffee and cake, or just a gelati on a hot day.

There are so many great places to eat out in Melbourne for every taste and every budget. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
